Started a project early this morning working on a live recording of a German Polka Band that I also ran sound for in Gaylord last month. There group is called Alpen Sound and their sound is reviewed by many as authentic German and gives many a feeling of home.
There group is growing, which consists of Bob on Button Box, Bonnie on Drums, a Vocalists and accompaniment. However, that only half the picture, they have a puppet for a tuba player named Ray, and soon to be added yodeling dog. They are fun to work with and if you can dance a waltz and handle a 2-step you should come see them perform.

I was introduced to this, Artistic Anomaly, by a good friend. Kami Jee is a great person and a wonderful artist I thoroughly enjoyed working with him and hope to do so again. From his website kamijee.com:
“Kamijee is a name that brings all the senses into work when one listens to his music. His music is as diverse as his audience, which is for a macrocosm. Kamijee is not only a seasoned music composer/arranger, but also a remarkable photographer, director and an editor. When all these skill sets are combined, what is produced is an organic global sound, which is the sound from the heart, for the hearts!…”
We began the mastering stage of the project in September of 2009 and finished in January 2010. Working with a perfectionist can be grueling to some, however as I to am one it was rewarding. One thing about perfectionists is they tend to keep there
guard up, but once I got into his mind the vision was marvelous and I was able to harmonize with it to do my part. Even though he lived in Chicago he only came to Kalamazoo twice. We were able to move his mixes and my masters back and forth using a file sharing service Yousendit. This made our work efficient and inexpensive.
After the hard work and his persistence over the following months it all paid off and the album “Jeevan” was released July 2nd 2010 by EMI Pakistan.
““Jeevan” is an album that explores various themes. But mostly it is about our true companion that goes with us on the journey of life. This companion is Time. The album longs to spread a universal message thus, caters to a global audience. The genres of the songs vary from rock and fusion to semi-classical and devotional music…”
This album has been long awaited in Pakistan and soon will be known throughout the world. EMI released it as a mega hit, so great things will be seen from this release. Check this video, produced and directed by Kami Jee himself.
The album is on sale and can be purchased at:
A couple snippets will be on our site to listen to and there will have a before and after track in the Mastering section.

This man here is one of the hardest working individuals I know. He hosts multiple recurring poetry shows. Most notably the two Smokin’ Spoken Word shows at the East Town Hookah Lounge in Grand Rapids, MI every Wednesday, and Blaze Hookah Lounge in Kalamazoo, MI every Tuesday. Which is only the beginning, Azizi volunteers for different non-profits, he is a community activist, and most amazingly he speaks his mind through poem. As an artist his ability to infuse enlightenment into every syllable, forcing you the audience to think long after his words have ceased, how he lights fires under dormant souls, causes rebellion against the status quo, all to make one person think and from thought comes change.
One more thing, he is a prepared artist. It was easy to work with him in the studio, he put together an eight track ep that will be ready for sale as I type. Furthermore, he has began his tour Tuesday with another awesome poet from St. Louis named Xplicit. Also check his website souluonline.com the concept is inspiring. So if you find yourself in St. Louis, Chicago, Ohio, Detroit, and a couple other locations over the next few weeks you need to see them, or come to Smokin’ Spoken Word when they get back. Either way we will get a track up shortly and you should buy a cd or download as soon as they are available and check out Token Blaq on Facebook.
Make sure you check back, cause he will be sending me updates of his travels.

Last month we had a wonderful time working with this band. Serita is an amazing singer/songwriter and her musicians from all different musical backgrounds knew what they were doing. We put in almost 12 hours straight of tracking for the new ep their working on. It felt like family in the lab that day and we all worked
together as one. Even turned down the lights, lit candles, and incents. It was a marvelous experience and make sure you check out there fan page at Reverbnation.

As with all things in life sometimes what we plan for doesn’t happen exact to the given blueprint. Grandma always said good things come in time, and with patience they will be all the better. So without further ado Pro Tools 8 has arrived and it is a beautiful upgrade. Come check it out.

We did an on-location recording for IVOH at the Fetzer Institute in Kalamazoo, MI. Their mission is,
“Mission: to expand awareness of the choices those in media make that raise public trust, generate constructive meaning, and amplify human hope, enhancing humanity's capacity for life-promoting action.
"The real act of discovery consists not in finding new lands but seeing with new eyes." -Marcel Proust.”
This was for a journalism conference that was held at the Fetzer Institute in June 2010. Sky recorded the essays of ten amazing journalist from around the country and some parts of the world and were also speakers at the conference. Each journalist has extensive careers and have reported on many events of which some changed lives. It was a rewarding experience to be apart of and to hear the hearts and view points of these minds.
We will follow up with links to some of the essays once they have been published onto IVOH’s website.
